The Weekend Of...

A whole year of intense preparation passes quickly, and suddenly the weekend has arrived! One parent described it as a train rolling with steam generated by the child’s energy, parent’s nervousness, the family and friends arriving, and the community’s excitement and support. All arrangements have been made, and now it is time to settle into the joy of the moment. Seize it! Hold it, cherish it; take snapshots in your mind. It comes but once for a Jewish child. And above all, enjoy!

Shabbat evening (Friday Night)

Friday night services begin at 6:00 p.m. and usually conclude by 7:00 p.m.

The Bar/Bat Mitzvah will help lead parts of the service including V’ahavtah and Avot/G'vurot.

B’nei Mitzvah families will share in the candle lighting and Kiddush blessings.

The families and the Bar/Bat Mitzvah are welcome to sit in the first two rows in Factor Chapel at the Glazer Campus or in the Marcia Israel Chapel-Auditorium at the Irmas Campus.

Shabbat morning (Saturday Morning)

All participants for the service including the parent ushers will meet with the rabbi and cantor at 9:30 a.m. to review the roles on the bima. The families will also participate in a short tallit ritual with close family and clergy.

At Glazer, service participants will meet in Lerner Conference Room and at Irmas families will meet in the Chapel-Auditorium.

Saturday morning Shabbat services begin at 10:00 a.m. and concludes around 12:00 p.m.
